I've always had an appreciation for the craftsmanship involved in the making of fine shotgun and rifle stocks. The synergy between wood and metal is at it's most superb when brought together in the form of a shotgun stock, receiver, barrel and forend.
I am a member of a rifle shooting club and a life long shooting enthusiast. My other interest is woodworking and I have been restoring antique furniture and making bespoke furniture professionally for over forty years. The skills I have acquired in these fields are eminently transferable to working on shotgun and rifle stocks.
Gun Stock Refinishing specialises in the modification, repair and refinishing of the wooden elements of shotguns and rifles. It is a niche service provided within my bespoke cabinet making business.
The materials I use for repairing stocks are carefully selected and I will always do my best to match grain patterns and colour in the wood I choose for gun stock repairs. If staining is necessary it is achieved using combinations of: alcohol spirit, naphtha and water stains that are then sealed before many layers of gun stock oil are painstakingly applied.
You may send your stocks to me by post, but where practicable I prefer to either collect or receive delivery from clients in person. When posting you must of course insure the contents for full replacement cost and send using registered parcel delivery.
If you have any difficulty with packaging we can supply you with a purpose made container. Please contact us about this service for further details.
Please be aware that at the present time I am not a Registered Firearms Dealer so any stocks you deliver or send to me for repairs must have their receivers and barrels removed.
If you deliver in person I can do this for you at no extra charge.
At some stage I hope to become a RFD so this situation will change and intact firearms then can be left with me.
